Shroom got his first radio job at the age of 3 playing all of his favorite Elvis songs at a radio station broadcast from his very own bedroom. He was never afraid of the FCC because the stations signal did not broadcast very far. His parents told him that people all over the world tuned in to his show. Little did he know, but the station had no signal at all.
Years later at the age of 8 Shroom landed a real radio job but was fired for defecating on the floor of the studio. Shroom then traveled south to Cincinnati, OH with one goal in mind… to be on the WEBN Dawn Patrol! He lived in the dumpster outside of the WEBN studio for 16 years and spent every morning begging Bob The Producer for just one chance to be behind the microphone with the Dawn Patrol. One early morning in May of 2006 that dream came true! The rest is history folks.

Cow Arrested in Middletown

WOMAN IN COW SUIT ARRESTED: A woman in Middletown, Ohio was arrested after chasing children, urinating on a porch, and blocking traffic... all while wearing a cow suit. A police officer told Allen to go home and stay there for the remainder of the evening after the first two incidents, but they were later called to another location where Allen was allegedly blocking traffic. The arresting officer says Allen smelled of alcohol, slurred her speech, and was belligerent. She also alleged cussed at the officer. Allen is charged with disorderly conduct.
Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash expressed his support for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, in a new interview with England's NME Radio. Slash remarked, "I think Obama's great. It's the first time in eight years (since George W. Bush came into power) I've heard somebody speak English. I think it's refreshing to see someone who's reasonably intelligent come in. I agree with a lot of (Obama's) stuff. There are a couple of things I'm concerned with, but all things considered I think he's the best candidate for the job."
Slash also talked about the progress of his new solo album, saying he's got demos recorded of 14 songs. He plans to enlist a number of different singers to appear on the CD, although he has not yet revealed any names.
Velvet Revolver is still looking for a new vocalist to replace Scott Weiland before beginning work on its third studio effort. Slash said he wasn't sure if his album would arrive before the next Velvet Revolver disc.
Slash will also release a series of new guitars, the Gibson and Epiphone Les Paul Goldtop range, on October 7th.

MUDVAYNE'S 'NEW GAME' FEATURES ALBUM/TICKET PROGRAM
Mudvayne has revealed the details of its first North American tour in three years, as well as more information about the band's upcoming album, The New Game. Through a program called "The Album Is The Ticket," fans who pre-order the record at BestBuy.com will have an opportunity to buy a ticket to the tour through a code accompanying each copy or pre-order of the CD. The code will take buyers to a private fan club area at TheAlbumIsTheTicket.com where they can buy their ticket and also receive a one-year membership in Mudvayne's fan club.
Singer Chad Gray said in a statement, "Traditionally, over the life cycle of an album, a fan purchases a CD, DVD, tickets to a show and a fan club membership, generally spending over $100 for the experience. For the launch of The New Game, fans can experience all of these elements for well under $40."
The New Game is due out on November 18th and follows up Mudvayne's last all-new studio effort, 2005's Lost and Found.

We asked drummer Matt McDonough if the new CD was a concept record like some of the band's earlier ones: ["I don't really see any of the records we've done as being a concept record. I like to look at it more in the sense of the records being conceptual, and that there might be ideas that are pervasive and overriding views or things that could be suggested in it. But as far as like a concept, where there's a narrative and a plot, we don't really work like that."] SOUNDCUE (:19 OC: . . . work like that.)
The first single from The New Game is called "Do What You Do." It hits rock radio on September 23rd.

'Chinese Democracy' Set For Release In November?

'CHINESE DEMOCRACY' SET FOR NOVEMBER RELEASE?
According to RollingStone.com, it is rumored that GUNS N' ROSES' long-awaited new album "Chinese Democracy" will be released exclusively through Best Buy on November 25. The source of the rumor is a supposed "vendor convention" that Best Buy had on Wednesday in Dallas, Texas. GUNS manager Andy Gould told the 900 employees the news about "Chinese Democracy" before previewing three songs from the album. Gould also reportedly revealed that the new GN'R song "If The World" will be featured in the closing credits for the upcoming Leonardo DiCaprio/Russell Crowe film "Body of Lies", which was confirmed by message boarders on movie websites (like IMDB) who happened to catch a press screening of the film yesterday.

METALLICA 'DEATH MAGNETIC' AUDIO QUALITY

MASTERING ENGINEER CAUGHT IN METALLICA SOUND QUALITY DEBATE
A fan-generated controversy over the audio quality of the new Metallica album, Death Magnetic, has now dragged the engineer who mastered the album into the ongoing debate. RollingStone.com published a quote from an email attributed to recording engineer Ted Jensen, who mastered the album at Sterling Sound in New York. Responding to fan complaints that the CD is too loud and the audio is pushed to distortion levels, Jensen allegedly wrote, "I'm certainly sympathetic to your reaction, I get to slam my head against that brick wall every day. In this case the mixes were already brick-walled before they arrived at my place. Suffice to say I would never be pushed to overdrive things as far as they are here. Believe me, I'm not proud to be associated with this one, and we can only hope that some good will come from this in some form of backlash against volume above all else."

Mastering is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device, the "master," from which all copies will be produced.
Blame for the sound quality has been laid at the feet of the band itself, producer Rick Rubin and his recording engineer, Greg Fidelman.
Several articles from both the mainstream press and recording industry websites have discussed the album in context of the so-called "Loudness Wars," a term used by U.K. publication The Guardian, which claims that the music industry is trying to make recordings as loud as possible mainly to stand out on radio.
An audio clip has surfaced on YouTube comparing music from the Death Magnetic CD to tracks from the album used for Guitar Hero, which were prepared differently. A number of fans prefer the Guitar Hero versions.
Neither Metallica nor its management have commented on the issue. A petition circulated by some fans asking the band to remix the CD has gathered several thousand signatures, although they are dwarfed by the 700,000 copies the CD has sold in the U.S. since going on sale September 12th.
