President Bush Speaks in Cincinnati

Says economy will recover; discusses judicial appointments
Monday, October 6, 2008
( Cincinnati ) President George W. Bush spoke to a legal group at the Hilton Netherland Plaza today, focusing on the judicial appointments he's made during his two terms as president and reassuring those in attendance that the recently passed bailout plan will take time, but will work.

President Bush began his trip with a landing at CVG around 2:30pm. He gave out the President's Volunteer Service award to Nancy Arnold of Fairfield. Arnold volunteers with the Thank You Foundation, that sends thank you cards and care packages to troops around the world. Arnold is married to a Vietnam War veteran and has three sons that have served in the military.

From CVG, President Bush made his way downtown to the hotel to speak to members of the Cincinnati Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society and the John M. Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs at Ashland University. The speech will focused on the more than 300 judges he has appointed during his eight years in office, including Chief Supreme Court Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito, but he opened by addressing the economy. He reassured the audience that the rescue plan will work, but said it could some time.

Before flying back to Washington on Air Force One, the President met with the Stang family of Middletown, giving gifts to children Jacob and Jessica. Jacob got to tour the plane, that he called "a flying mansion."
